Sunday Mid-Columbia sports roundup

June 16, 2013

Mason Hilty hit a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the Twin City Titans to a 3-2 victory Sunday over the Hanford Flames in the championship game of the Bandit Bash at Roy Johnson Field in Kennewick.

“It was a really good ballgame,” Hanford coach Nate Roe said. “They brought in (David) Marshall in the seventh and they got that big hit from Hilty. Both teams battled really hard.”

Twin City took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, only to see the Flames even the score in the top of the fourth.

The game remained tied until Hilty’s shot sent Stuart Moore across the plate for the winning run.

In the semifinals, the Flames beat the Kenenwick Bandits 5-3 as catcher Aaron Enderlin went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs. His two-run single in the top of the seventh put the winning run across the plate.

The Titans beat the Spokane Expos 4-1 in the other semifinal game.
