Kennewick piano teacher receives statewide award

June 15, 2013

— Kennewick piano teacher Patti Robertson will be honored Sunday by the Washington State Music Teachers Association.

The award will be presented at the association’s conference in Wenatchee.

Robertson, a Whitman College graduate, has taught piano in the Tri-Cities for more than 30 years.

Her students have gone on to win local and regional competitions, including Young Artists of Distinction, Young Artists Competition, Miss Tri-Cities and Miss Washington pageants, as well as performed with the Mid-Columbia Symphony.

Robertson also served as Ingrid Clarfield’s left hand at the Portland International Piano Festival in 2010 and at the Washington State Music Teachers Association conference in 2009.

Clarfield, a renowned piano teacher from the East Coast, lost the use of her left hand in 2007 after she had a stroke.
