Friday's night's Mid-Columbia baseball roundup

The Kennewick Bandits went 2-0 on Friday in the opening day of the Bandit Bash, beating the Yakima Rattlers 12-3 and the Spokane North Stars 1-0 at Roy Johnson Field in Kennewick.

Against the North Stars, Kennewick’s Connor O’Neil struck out 17, while Larry DeWitt scored the game’s lone run on an error with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Bandits used a seven-run third inning to pull away from the Rattlers in the opening game.

In the second game, the Spokane North Stars topped Yakima 8-0 as David Yoppini struck out 16.

On Saturday, the Bandits take on the Twin City Titans at 1 p.m., then turn around and play Spokane Baseball at 4 p.m. At 7 p.m., the Spokane North Stars play Spokane Baseball. All games are at Roy Johnson.

The Twin City Titans went 1-1 at Hanford High, defeating the Flames 3-2 before losing to the Spokane Expos 2-1.

The Expos then beat the Flames 3-1 in 10 innings to wrap up a day of solid pitching and defense in Richland.

Gibson McGeorge pitched five strong innings to pick up the victory for the Titans against the Flames, while Nate Ruane pitched seven innings in the loss.

Spokane topped Hanford on a two-run home run in the 10th by Levi Terreira.

The Hanford Junior Flames defeated Mead 7-1 and Wenatchee 12-0 to earn a pair of victories at a tournament in Moses Lake.

Richland Knights split: Jason Webb pitched a complete game as the Richland Knights topped the Canyon County Cobras 11-0 in five innings at the Father’s Day Classic in Nampa, Idaho.

Mitch Piper, Carson Miller and Chad Miller all scored two runs, while Mason Nelson had a double.

The Knights lost their second game to Treasure Valley, giving up six runs in the second inning en route to a 9-3 loss.

Nelson had three of the Knights’ five hits and drove in a run.

Richland will play Kuna (Idaho) at 11:30 a.m. today.
