Kennewick's Derek Davenport elected commissioner of Washington State Potato Commission

Derek Davenport of Kennewick recently was elected as the newest commissioner for the Washington State Potato Commission.

Davenport, general manager for Pasco's Allied Potato Northwest, Inc., will serve a three-year term in an at-large position on the commission starting July 1.

Davenport oversees all of the company's farm operations including the growing, packaging and shipping of their fresh chipping potatoes. He is a 2007 graduate of the University of Idaho, where he earned his degree in agriculture and a minor in Spanish.
