Kennewick woman who stopped to help motorist dies in collision

— A Kennewick woman died this morning in a collision as she drove away from helping another motorist on Highway 240 in Kennewick, according to Washington State Patrol.

Rebecca K. Ferguson, 72, had stopped to help another motorist and as she made a U-turn after pulling onto the highway she was hit by another car, WSP said. The collision happened around 10:25 a.m.

Ferguson was pronounced dead a short time later at Kennewick General Hospital.

The other driver, Donald G. Griffin, 68, of Kennewick, was also taken to KGH. He is listed in stable condition. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, WSP said.
