— Fire crews put out a small fire near West Richland Sunday afternoon that destroyed a spare room in a house, according to a fire official.

A man was home at the time of the fire and was able to control it with a garden hose until firefighters from Benton Fire District 4 arrived, Capt. Bill Cherwin said. No one was injured and there was no other damage to the house at 73556 N. Peterson Rd.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
