Online tool helps amend state excise tax returns

By The Tri-City HeraldMay 23, 2013

The Department of Revenue's new online tool aims to help businesses amend previously filed state excise tax returns.

More than 1,100 amended returns have been filed using the tool in its first two weeks of availability, according to the state.

Taxpayers could file returns online using the department's eFile system since 1998, but amended returns still had to be filed on paper.

The new system also allows a taxpayer to make a payment or request a credit or a refund.
