Tri-City HeraldMay 23, 2013

— A four-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 395 and Yelm Street backed up traffic for commuters Thursday morning.

The crash happened just after 7 a.m. when Christopher G. Crawford, 23, of Kennewick, ran a red light after falling asleep at the wheel, according to a release from Washington State Patrol.

Crawford’s Chevrolet pick-up truck then struck a Nissan pick-up truck driven by Jerry L. Shook, 67, and a Toyota Rav 4 driven by Max H. Morante, 38, all of Kennewick. A fourth vehicle, driven by Cody R. Simmons, 24, of Selah, was struck by debris.

Morante was the only person injured in the crash. He was taken to Kennewick General Hospital. His status was not immediately known.

All the vehicles except for the one belonging to Simmons was towed from the scene. All drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
