Norovirus outbreak proved in Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE -- The Grant County Health District says the stomach illness that prompted the temporary closure of Longview Elementary School in Moses Lake earlier this month was norovirus.

Two samples from people who became sick during the school outbreak were sent to the Washington State Public Health Lab and tested positive, the health district said in a news release.

"The source of this virus is unknown, likely the illness was spread when individuals became sick at school and exposed others. There were isolated reports of stomach flu illness in the community prior to this outbreak," the release said.
