The students, staff and faculty at Jefferson Elementary School in Richland honored Principal Bobbi Buttars in a secret assembly for Principal's Week on Tuesday, May 21, surprising her with gifts and thanking her for her leadership.

Counselor Susie Oram organized the assembly, keeping Buttars occupied in a meeting before having another teacher tell her that the P.E. teacher was hurt in the gym. Each grade prepared a special gift for Buttars during the assembly.

"She's an excellent leader, but more than that, she's a very caring person, and I think that's probably why she's so successful," said Oram.
