May 18, 2013

— Two people were hurt Saturday in a wreck on Highway 17 about seven miles southwest of Warden in Grant County.

Javier M. Benavides, 36, of Moses Lake, was driving a 1993 Honda Civic north on the highway about 2:25 p.m. when he left the road to the right, overcorrected and crossed the center line, hitting a 2001 Lexus RX300 in the southbound lane, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Benavides allegedly was driving under the influence, the patrol reported.

Both Benavides and Dawn. R. Wood, 33, of Moses Lake, the Lexus’ driver, were taken to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.
