Two Richland homes damaged in fire

May 18, 2013

— Two neighboring homes on Desert Springs Avenue in south Richland were damaged Friday night in a fire. No one was hurt in the blaze, which broke out about 8 or 8:30 p.m., said Battalion Chief James Hempstead of the Richland Fire Department.

It appears the fire started outside, possibly in a fence line area between the homes, he said.

The cause is under investigation.

Crews from the Pasco and Kennewick fire departments and Benton County fire districts 1 and 4 helped battle the blaze, and Hanford Fire Department officials helped cover other Richland Fire Department calls.
