Fire in Zillah nearly burns home

Tri-City HeraldMay 16, 2013

— Fire crews in Zillah contained a six acre vegetation fire Wednesday before it could reach a large house.

When firefighters from Yakima Fire Protection District 5 arrived at a house on Bonaire Road, the fire was burning around half of the house, Capt. Dave Martin said. Crews were able to eventually control the fire, which spread to some grass and sage brush on the property.

A burn pile left smoldering in saw dust and wood chips caused the fire, Martin said.

No one was hurt during the blaze and there was no damage to the house or surrounding storage area.
