Letter: Arlene's Flowers -- No one should limit business' right to refuse service

The story of Arlene's Flowers just floors me. The fact that the owner has everyone upset just because she refused service to a gay customer is insane. Everyone needs to calm down and understand she has every right to refuse service to anyone.

If she had started ranting and raving about how all gays and lesbians are going to hell and how she hates them all, that would have been a whole other story.

This is her business and no one should be able to tell her who she can or cannot provide service to. I don't believe this woman is homophobic or anything of that nature at all. She is just secure in her belief that marriage should be between a man and a woman. It is just how these customers believe that marriage is for same-sex couples as well.

What ever happened to a private business owner's rights? Our society is too sensitive and freaks out every time someone voices his or her opinion or expresses a right they possess that the majority doesn't agree with. The customers have rights too. If you don't like the practices or services of a business, then you have a right to take your business elsewhere. Don't be so sensitive.
