Letter: Arlene's Flowers -- 'religious freedom' bill raises questions

May 13, 2013

Suppose I believed that the sacrament of communion should only be performed with wine, as most scholars agree that Jesus used wine in the Last Supper. Suppose I had a small business selling Bibles, but refused to sell to members of any church that I believed defiled the sacrament by using grape juice.

Would state Sen. Sharon Brown's so-called "religious freedom" bill protect my freedom to refuse to sell them Bibles based on my personal religious beliefs? I doubt it.
