Bullet fragment stuck in child's head during Othello drive-by

Tri-City HeraldMay 13, 2013

— Othello police are searching for suspects in a drive-by shooting in Othello that left a bullet fragment in a 4-year-old’s head.

The fragment got lodged in the child’s head but did not penetrate his skull, said Adams County Sheriff Doug Barger. The fragment was removed at Othello Community Hospital and the child was released hours after the May 10 shooting.

The child and four family members were in a red Cadillac on the 600 block of Wagon Road around 7:00 p.m., when a brown car pulled up and fired multiple shots from a 9mm pistol into the car, Barger said. The family then drove about five blocks to their house while the suspects chased them.

As the family pulled into their driveway, the suspects fired more shots before driving away, Barger said. No one else in the Cadillac, which also had two teens and two adults inside, were injured.

Police are searching for two males and a third suspect they believe are responsible for the shooting, Barger said. No one in the Cadillac has gang affiliations, though the suspects may.

The brown car is described as a sedan with no front grill, Barger said.

Anyone with information on the shooting should contact the Adams County Sheriff’s Office at 509-488-2061 or 509-6591122.
