Wind-energy projects off to a slow start in 2013

May 11, 2013

— It’s been a calm year for the development of wind energy in Eastern Oregon.

The East Oregonian newspaper reports that uncertainty over the future of federal tax credits for wind production has the industry in a lull, and no new projects currently under construction in the area.

A surge of projects last year added 1,700 megawatts of generation across the Pacific Northwest.

One of the projects was the 845-megawatt Shepherds Flat Wind Farm in Morrow and Gilliam counties.
