U-turn causes fatal crash for Walla Walla man

— A Walla Walla man died Friday when he made a U-turn in front of a pickup driven by a Hermiston woman on Highway 11 near Pendleton, according to the Oregon State Patrol.

Vincent Torrier, 77, of Walla Walla, was driving a Toyota Corolla north at 8:50 a.m. when he made a U-turn and was hit by be a pickup driven by Debora Alder, 55 of Hermiston.

Torrier was taken by air ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, but did not survive.

His dog also was in the car and was treated for injuries and turned over to family members.

The state patrol did not report any injuries to those in the pickup. They included Allen Adler, 54; Dana Hanson, 22, and a 10 year old from Pendleton.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the state patrol.
