Tax-exempt reports due to IRS by Wednesday

Tri-City HeraldMay 11, 2013

The Internal Revenue Service would like to remind tax-exempt organizations that many of them must file annual reports with the IRS by Wednesday, May 15.

Federal tax exemptions will automatically be revoked if an organization has not filed reports for three consecutive years.

Most tax-exempt organizations must file annual Form 990-series informational returns or notices with the IRS. Churches and church-related organizations are not required to file annual reports.

The forms are due on the 15th day of the fifth month after an organization's fiscal year ends. Organizations can file for an extension.
