College baseball: CBC's playoff hopes dashed

May 8, 2013

The Columbia Basin baseball team’s hopes of making the NWAACC playoffs came to an end Wednesday, when it was swept by Big Bend 8-2 and 5-4 in Moses Lake.

The Hawks (20-22, 12-14) fell into sixth place with the losses and can’t catch fourth-place Wenatchee Valley with just two games left. The wins for Big Bend were just the fifth and sixth in league play this season.

In the opener, Big Bend hit two home runs during a seven-run fifth inning to blow open the game.

In the nightcap, the Vikings won on a walk-off single by Chris Lacelle.
