Motorcyclists gather in Kennewick for cross-country ride

Motorcyclists will gather in Kennewick Wednesday to begin a cross-country journey.

The bikers are heading out to ride to Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., where they will take part in the Run for the Wall, a 10-day ride to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Lee Andrews, who rode in the event in 2012, said more than 30 people from Seattle to Spokane will meet up starting at 11 a.m. at Rattlesnake Mountain Harley-Davidson on West 19th Avenue.

Andrews said as many as 20,000 riders could take part in the Run for the Wall, which takes two routes, one in the southern and one in the central part of the country. Among the bikers will be veterans of the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
