May 7, 2013

— Tri-Citians can meet mobile robot Sprockit and learn about technology innovation at Lockheed Martin’s 13th annual Information Technology Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick.

The 2013 IT Day theme is Innovation at the Edge.

The free event is open to the public and includes educational sessions about topics such as business collaboration using big data analytics, cloud computing, cyber security, enterprise mobility and Green IT.

“IT Day is a one-of-a-kind event in Eastern Washington and Oregon — one that impacts thousands of people in our community, as well as helps advance the overall IT field,” said Kyle Willers, program director at Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Solutions business, in a news release.

A vendor expo will be open during the day to showcase technology and services from more than 60 IT vendors and academic partners.

The IT Day lunch, which costs $15, is expected to sell out prior to the event.

Adam Lashinsky, senior editor of Fortune Magazine, will discuss, “Apple vs. Amazon: The Looming Tech Battle.”

Bill Rosemann, an editor for Marvel Comics, also will be a guest speaker.

Lockheed Martin is the major corporate sponsor of IT Day.
