By the Tri-City HeraldMay 6, 2013

Johnny Jansen had two hits, three runs and two RBIs, Hayden Burris drove in three more runs and Austen Hebdon scattered just four hits over seven innings as Kamiakin earned the No. 4 seed in the 3A District 5/8 regional tournament with a 12-1 win over Sunnyside on Monday at LaPierre Field in Kennewick.

“I was impressed with our situational hitting and defense. We hit pretty well down the stretch and made routine plays all day,” Kamiakin coach Ryan Carter said. “Austen did a great job on the hill, attacking hitters all day. We’re clicking at the right time.”

Ty Earley added two hits and two runs scored for the Braves, who will travel to Mt. Spokane today for a 4 p.m., loser out game.
