Letters: Parking passes do little good when there's not enough parking spots

May 6, 2013

I am currently a senior at Richland High School. I've been driving to school since my sophomore year and I have never had problems with Richland High's parking lot until this year.

There is very limited parking on campus. Every student that is privileged to take a car to school must have a parking pass. I'm frustrated because I feel like the school sold way more parking passes than there are parking spots available.

There have been several complaints from other students here at school because if you don't get a parking spot, you have to park off school campus or you'll be fined $20.

I understand that if you park illegally, there should be a consequence, but I think Richland High should consider extending their parking lot so when kids attending school next year, won't have to battle with the incredibly overcrowded parking jam mess that's going on right now.
