Chiawana saxophonists bring home top award

PASCO -- Chiawana High School saxophonists brought home the top award in their category from a state solo and ensemble contest.

The Chiawana Saxophone Quartet was named the 2013 state champion for small woodwind ensemble at the event in Ellensburg. The school's 15 other entries, made up of solos and ensembles, received superior or excellent ratings.

The quartet is made up of students Ricardo Rangel, Jan DeQuiroz, Taylor Gardner and Michael Wheatley. They are led by band directors Kevin Clayton and Matt Larsen.
