Softball: Columbia Basin splits with Big Bend

Big Bend 6-5, Columbia Basin 5-10: Kennewick grad Ashlen Ayres was 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs on Saturday to help the Hawks earn an NWAACC East road split in Moses Lake.

The wins put Columbia Basin (23-19, 14-12) into a tie for third place with Treasure Valley with two games left in the regular season. The Hawks are 1/2 game ahead of fifth-place Yakima Valley. The top four teams advance to the playoffs.

Big Bend (10-32, 4-22) played the role of spoiler in the opener, as Halee Edulblute hit a three-run home run.
