Benton County road work could start Monday

April 29, 2013

A contractor could begin placing a bituminous surface treatment on several Benton County roads as early as Monday, a county news release said.

The affected county roads are in Tri-City Heights and between Benton City and West Richland from the Yakima River east to Dallas and Bombing Range roads, south to Interstate 82 and north to the Yakima River. Moses Lake-based Central Washington Asphalt is the contractor.

The project is expected to last about six weeks. Drivers should expect some delays, reduced speeds and fresh oil and loose gravel on roadways, the news release said.

Residents should keep vehicles and other objects off the shoulders between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. for safety and to cut down on delays.

Call the county’s public works department at 509-736-3084 with questions or concerns.
