Hanford’s Tanner Martin locked up the MVP for the Mid-Columbia Conference boys by tying Richland’s Drew McCullough at 2-under-par 66 during Monday’s pod match at Tri-City Country Club.

The Bombers finished first in the team race to secure the MCC title.

Richland’s Jeffrey Marcum tied Southridge’s Garrett Neswick for third at 68, but Hunter Thompson and Hunter Ashby finished 70-71 as the Bombers placed all four scorers in the top 10 and won by nine points over Hanford.

Nick Mandell carded a 69 for Southridge as the Suns finished in third place.

On the girls side, the Falcons swept their fifth team title and locked up the championship with one pod match left. Their nine-point lead over Richland is insurmountable with a maxium of eight points available at each match.

The season’s individual title, however, is very much up for grabs with Hanford’s Taylor Kain-Godoy leading teammate Kelsey Aiello by less than a stroke on the average of five meets.

Pasco freshman Jalayne Martinez, who trails cousin Neydeen Martinez by less than half a stroke for third place, won Monday’s round with a 75. She finished two strokes ahead of Aiello, Neydeen Martinez and Hanford’s Kate Stephens. Kain-Godoy and teammate Lacy Skwarek shot 79s, giving the Falcons four of the top six finishers for a 52-stroke victory.
