Letter: We're broke

April 28, 2013

Regarding Mr. Bensky's letter on April 15, the fact that it was Tax Day was not lost on me.

I have to say how refreshing it was to see a liberal actually admitting that their revered president.

Obama is not king. It gave me cause for hope.

On May 9, 1939, Henry Morganthau, Franklin Roosevelt's treasury secretary gave sworn testimony to Congress that the New Deal was a failure. He said, "We have tried spending money. We are spending more money than we have ever spent before and it does not work."

Expressions that I grew up with, such as, "Don't throw good money after bad," or, "Quit throwing money down a rat hole," come to mind. How about the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!

More government spending is not the answer. We're already broke.
