Yin Your Eyes wins at Sun Downs

April 27, 2013

Heavily favored Yin Your Eyes, with Ruben Camacho aboard, rolled to an easy victory in the seventh-race feature, the Sun Downs Mixed Breed Memorial at 880 yards on Saturday at Sun Downs race track in Kennewick.

Owned and trained by Kennewick’s Bill Hoburg, Yin Your Eyes was the only quarter horse among the five contestants — the other four being thoroughbreds.

The 6-year-old gelding finished 3 1⁄2 lengths ahead of runnerup Enterprise Zone and rider Jose A. Guerrero.

In was Yin Your Eyes’ first race of the year.

The total handle wagered was $42,371 for the day.

Eight more races are scheduled for today, with the first post at 1 p.m.

The day’s biggest race will be the eighth, the Sun Downs Quarter Horse Derby at 350 yards with a $3,300 purse.

Shake Wide Open, owned by F. Vaughn Hoopes and trained by Carrie Hoburg, is the oddsmaker's favorite at 2-to-1 odds.

The track will also have Doggie Daze races between the third and fourth horse races today. Anyone who wants to enter their small-sized dog can do so at the VIP room across from the track restaurant today.

Trey Fecta

Trey lost again on Saturday, but this time it was only $20. The imaginary bankroll, which started the meet at $300, is now down to $152.20.

We’re at the halfway point of the meet and have lost half the bankroll, so we’re on schedule.

In today’s first race, we’ll go with Hittin the Mark in the first half of the Daily Double, and bet a $5 quinella on Hittin the Mark and Bh Country Chrome.

We’ll take Margiesdanzindots in the second half of the DD, and box a trifecta of Margiesdanzindots, Play a Cabaret and Heaven At Last.

It’s $5 across the board on Buckaree in the third.

And we’ll box an exacta on Faith Rewarded and My Prisila in the fourth.

We like Alacran Juan in the fifth and will bet $5 across the board on him.

A boxed exacta of Shez Pretty Awesome and Queens Prince Gol is the call in the sixth.

We’ll take Proud Illusion in the first half of the Late Double in the seventh and combine him with Private Swing for a $5 quinella.

And we’ll take Mr Speedygonzalez for the second half of the Late Double in the eighth, and combined him with Sneakin Bye for a boxed exacta.

That’s $62 in wagers.
