Softball: Connell's Thompson throws 7th consecutive no-hitter

April 27, 2013

Connell 11-8, Warden 0-1: Ashley Thompson threw the ultimate perfect game Saturday, then had her string of no-hitters come to an end in Game 2.

The BYU-signee struck out all 15 batters she faced to record her fourth perfecto of the season and reach seven consecutive no-nos. Thompson also doubled, homered and drove in three runs.

But the stretch of no-hitters, which according to Maxpreps is second all-time in the nation, ended in the first inning of the second game when Bianca Hernandez found a hole on the right side of the infield for an RBI single.

Thompson still struck out 12 in the two-hitter, and Hope Sawyer did some heavy lifting at the plate with a homer and a couple of RBIs.
