OTHELLO -- A semi-truck and trailer crashed into a car and another semi-truck and trailer early Monday morning three miles south of Othello, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Clifford Beck Jr., 72, of Moses Lake, was driving a tractor and trailer south on Highway 17 when the car in front of him slowed for another tractor and trailer that had been disabled from a previous collision, WSP said.

Beck's semi hit a Honda Accord driven by Octavio Santoyo, 22, of Othello, and the disabled semi and trailer at 12:11 a.m., WSP said. Santoyo was taken to Othello Community Hospital.

Beck and the driver of the other semi, Emiliano Mendoza, 34, of Othello, were not injured.
