Letter: Writer grateful petition to change schools was denied

April 21, 2013

I have a confession to make: I am a parent who tried to enroll my son in a middle school outside of our Chief Joseph Middle School boundaries. My request was denied, and I spent the summer before his sixth grade fretting. It didn't take long before I realized that my anxiety over this was baseless.

Once a week I help out with the lunch recess. I have the opportunity to sit in back of the cafeteria and observe the students, and I can only say that this is a great group of kids. When I see Mr. Lobdell and the rest of his staff interacting with the kids I feel lucky to be at a school with such caring, positive role models.

At Chief Jo my son has access to diverse and challenging courses along with a variety of after school activities. We are quite happy things did not turn out as planned!
