Baseball: Swearingen pitches Grandview past Ephrata

Grandview 5-0, Ephrata 2-11: Derek Swearingen struck out six and walked one in the opener to lead the Greyhounds to the win over the host Tigers on Saturday.
Swearingen also went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, while fellow senior Edgar Delgadillo was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
In the second game, the Tigers’ Justin BanEff shut down the Greyhounds in an 11-0 five-inning win. Justin DeHog hit a solo homer for Ephrata.

Warden 8-12, Columbia (Burbank) 2-11: Gabriel Pruneda was 4-for-7 with a double, and Jerry Reyes struck out 10 as the Cougars swept the Coyotes in an SCAC East doubleheader in Burbank.
Donovan Percifield was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs in the nightcap for Columbia.
The victory puts the Coyotes in second place in the East with a week left in the regular season. Warden is a half-game behind Columbia for third place. The Coyotes had a game against Kiona-Benton suspended because of darkness earlier this season.

Cody Zyph had a strong day for Ki-Be, going 4-for-8 with a pair of home runs and seven RBIs.

Seth Lane followed that up by earning a complete game victory in Game 2. Jacob Frampton hit a walk-off single, scoring Ashtin McRoberts with the game winner.
