Neighborhood watch group in Richland reports scam

Tri-City HeraldApril 18, 2013

— A neighborhood watch group in Richland told the Richland Police Department about a scam involving a caller claiming to be from Charter Communications.

The unknown caller requested personal information from a resident after claiming they were from Charter, the police department said. The caller asked for the person’s name, address and social security number specifically.

Police want to warn residents who may receive a similar call to not give out any personal information over the phone.
