Idaho Falls — Two former employees at the Idaho National Laboratory say they suffered retaliation from supervisors for raising health and safety concerns after being exposed to plutonium contamination nearly two years ago.
Seattle attorney Jack Sheridan has filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Labor on behalf of Brian Simmons and Ralph Stanton.
KPVI-TV reports Simmons and Stanton are former employees of Batelle Energy Alliance, the company that operates INL.
The complaint alleges the two men were exposed in November 2011 and suffered symptoms of radiation poisoning for months. At the same time, they allege Batelle Energy Alliance of denied the significance of the exposure, reassigned them to less meaningful jobs and imposed unjustified discipline.
INL Spokeswoman Misty Benjamin says BEA disagrees with the allegations and will vigorously defend itself.
