Baseball: Wenatchee Valley sweeps Columbia Basin

April 17, 2013

The Columbia Basin College baseball team was swept by Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday in an NWAACC East doubleheader in Pasco.

The Knights won 10-5 in the opener and 4-0 in the nightcap.

Beau Kerns threw a shutout, striking out 14 in the second game, giving up just three singles to the Hawks.

In the opener, the Hawks committed four errors including dropping two fly balls.

“I am apparently not pushing the right buttons to get these guys to compete,” CBC coach Chris Staton said. “We will need to work on that.”

Nick Savas was 4-for-5 in the opener, while Jordan Webb was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Brandon Pocasangre, a Kennewick High grad, was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base.

Kamiakin graduate Justin Berneski was a combined 5-for-8 with a double, homer and two runs for Wenatchee Valley.
