A Kennewick man suspected of being under the influence of heroin was arrested after he collided head-on with another car, said Kennewick police.

Police allegedly found an injection kit and heroin in Jonathan Ross Rettig's car after the Tuesday collision on East Columbia Drive in Kennewick, said Kennewick Crime Specialist Mike Blatman.

Rettig, 35, was taken to Kennewick General Hospital after the crash to be checked before being taken to jail and to have blood drawn for a drug test, police said. Once at the hospital, Blatman said Rettig tried to escape but struggled with an officer and medical staff.

No one in the car Rettig hit was injured and he was booked into the Benton County jail, Blatman said.
