— A new officer was sworn in to the Kennewick Police Department on Wednesday morning.

Seth Reil, 27, who was born and raised in the Tri-Cities, will now head to the police academy in Burien for 19 weeks after being sworn in at a ceremony at the police department.

Reil served in the Marine Corps for six years after high school as a K-9 handler. He left the Marines to become a civilian police officer and his grandfather is a retired sergeant with the Richland Police Department.
