Kennewick, Prosser plan signing celebrations

Kennewick High School will hold a ceremony Thursday for nine students who will sign their letters of intent for collegiate athletics.

A trio of girls soccer players, Jenna Ballandby, Stephanie Wilson and Megan Young, will stay close to home at Columbia Basin College.

Baseball players Clayten Ayres and Jarrod Molnaa, the Lions’ top two starting pitchers, will follow the recent flood of Tri-City players to go to Walla Walla CC. Another baseball player, shortstop Vince Gonzalez, is headed to Corban University in Salem, Ore.

Softball and bowling standout Karissa Shiflet will continue in softball at Concordia University in Portland. Panisesi Taimani is headed to North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene to play basketball, and Carlee Rhodes will do her golfing at Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston.

The ceremony is in the foyer of the Lions Den from 10:42-11:26 a.m. during lunch time.

Prosser will have three athletes signing their letters of intent at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Sydney Mercer will sign to play women’s basketball at CBC, and Kyle Killian is headed to Big Bend to play baseball. Tyler Renollet is headed to Olathe, Kan., to play football for MidAmerica Nazarene.
