WRPS Hanford workers reach safety milestone

By The Tri-City HeraldApril 10, 2013

Washington River Protection Solutions employees at Hanford have worked more than 7 million hours without a lost-time injury.

"We are within days of working two full years since our last day-away-from work injury case, a milestone that has never been reached in the history of the Hanford tank farms," said Mike Johnson, president of Washington River Protection solutions, in a message to employees.

The Department of Energy contractor manages the Hanford tank farms, where 56 million gallons of radioactive waste are stored in underground tanks. It has 1,470 employees.
