Roundup: Chiawana soccer blanks Southridge

Chiawana 1, Southridge 0: Uriel Arroyo’s goal in the 44th minute was all Chiawana needed to beat visiting Southridge in Mid-Columbia Conference play Tuesday.

“It was a good match,” Riverhawks coach Rich Zoller said. “Southridge is better than their record and they have some dangerous players. I thought our boys played well. It was a good game for us rebounding from a tough loss Saturday (to Pasco).”

Hanford 3, Walla Walla 1: Will Bishop scored the game-winning goal in the 65th minute to lead the Falcons (7-2) to a home win over the Blue Devils in Mid-Columbia Conference play.

“Mario (Zarate) played the ball over the top and Will took it in alone on the goalie,” Hanford coach Mike Pardini said. “The goalie came out to challenge Will and he went in behind him for the goal.”

Will Eldred and Zarate also scored for the Falcons, who got six saves from Jacob Thiel.

Ricardo Saldana had the lone goal for Walla Walla.

“They are 1-8, but they are a good team,” Pardini said of Wa-Hi. “They did well against us in the first half.”

Kennewick 2, Pasco 0: Ramiro Chavez scored a pair of goals off a pair of assists from Sam Borja, and the Lions dominated the Mid-Columbia match.

“We just played well,” said Kennewick coahc Brian Gochoel, whose team outshot Pasco 16-3. “We were able to possess the ball and dictate the pace of the game.”

Richland 2, Kamiakin 0: Jon Larsen scored a goal and had an assist to lead the Bombers to a Mid-Columbia Conference victory at Lampson Stadium in Kennewick.

Connell 10, Naches 0: Lanin Guzman scored four goals and Francisco Corona had two goals and five assists as the Eagles rolled to an SCAC road win Monday.

Josue Diaz added two goals and an assist. Jose Fragas (1g, 2a), Ricardo Martinez (1g) and Mario Vlancas (1a) rounded out the scoring, and Adsel Plaza had two saves in goal.
