Horticulture group to hold annual meeting in Tri-Cities

April 5, 2013

The Washington State Horticultural Association will have its 2014 annual meeting and expo in the Tri-Cities, bringing in 1,500 visitors who are estimated to spend about $780,000.

The association's board of directors unanimously agreed to have the meeting and expo at the Three Rivers Convention Center and Toyota Center in Kennewick, according to a news release.

Wenatchee and Yakima traditionally have shared hosting duties for the annual event for the past 100 years, which includes educational opportunities and technical presentations for tree fruit growers and shippers.

However, association officials said there's been an increasing call from its members to hold the meeting in the Tri-Cities.
