Tornado reported near Pendleton Thursday

Thursday evening's thunderstorm may have spawned a tornado near Pendleton as it passed through southeastern Washington and north- eastern Oregon.

Meteorologist Dennis Hull with the National Weather Service said some people reported seeing swirling debris when winds passed through the area. Power lines were knocked down and a barn was destroyed on the east side of Pendleton.

However, Hull said there was no radar evidence showing a tornado, which would have been the first to hit the area since another destroyed a farm homestead east of Pendleton in May 2009.

More rain is expected in the region over the coming days, though the showers will be on and off and not likely as strong as Thursday's storm.
