NWAACC softball: CBC swept at Wenatchee

March 31, 2013

In a showdown of NWAACC East Region unbeatens, the Columbia Basin College softball team fell in a doubleheader at Wenatchee Valley, 8-0 and 9-1.

CBC dropped to 13-7 overall and 6-2 in the East, while Wenatchee Valley moved to 18-2 and 8-0.

In the opener, former Kennewick standout Ashlen Ayres went 2-for-3 to lead CBC, but Wenatchee Valley went ahead 3-0 in the first inning and rolled the rest of the way.

The Knights’ Hailey Bator pitched all six innings and struck out 10, while former River View standout Haley Hess had a double.

In the second game, which went five innings, Hess went 2-for-3. Bailey Walthers (Richland) had two of CBC’s three hits.

“They’re a good team, and today they just flat-out beat us,” CBC coach Adrian Ochoa said. “We’ll prepare a little more for the next time they come to town. We’re in second place, and we’re still sitting in a good spot.”
