Softball roundup: Bombers sweep pair

The Richland Bombers defeated Hillsboro, Ore., 17-1 and Hermiston 13-1 in a pair of five-inning nonconference softball games Saturday at Rocky Heights Elementary School in Hermiston.

Richland’s April Utecht had two home runs and eight RBIs on the day, while Kayla Andrews and Abby Perryman drove in four runs.

Perryman pitched four innings and struck out eight against Hillsboro, while Paige Goulet went the full five innings and had eight strikeouts against Class 5A Hermiston.

The Bulldogs went 1-1 on the day after beating 6A Hillsboro 12-2.
