KID offers water tips as irrigation season begins

TRI-CITY HERALDMarch 30, 2013

The irrigation season is beginning and the Kennewick Irrigation District has these tips to get customers and others off to a good start.

w Check your riser and valve for freeze damage and call your irrigation water district if repairs are needed. Repairs in private lines might be the responsibility of the property owner.

w Close your valve before water is turned on to prevent flooding.

w The irrigation system takes about two weeks to be fully filled, flushed, and to have all pump stations operating for the season. For KID customers, first water availability, by area, will range from Monday to April 17. Go to www.kid.org for the irrigation water turn-on schedule in your service area.

w KID says this year's water supply this year looks great with full supply anticipated.

w Your irrigation assessment bill should have arrived. Contact KID customer service at 509-586-9111 if you have not received your irrigation assessment bill. The first half of the assessment is due April 30.
