Yakima man arrested after allegedly shooting his uncle

March 30, 2013

A Yakima man was arrested after police say he shot his uncle when the man ended an intimate relationship the two were having.

The 18-year-old suspect was booked into Yakima County Jail on a first-degree assault charge following the shooting Friday.

The man shot his 26-year-old uncle numerous times and initially told police he accidentally shot him while trying to commit suicide, the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office said in a release. The two were reportedly romantically involved and lived in the same house.

The victim is in critical but stable condition at a Yakima hospital, the release said.
