Pasco students receive top honors at vocal event

Two Pasco School District high school students and an ensemble earned top honors at the Columbia Basin Region Vocal, Solo & Ensemble contest, held March 8 at Pasco High School.

Pasco High soprano Mali McEndefer, Chiawana High tenor Jonathan Steele and Chiawana High's men's ensemble featuring Kyle Bishop, Quentin Naef, Josue Nunez, Rafeal Saucedo, Jonathan Steele, Isaac Wilson and Thomas Worden earned the highest score awarded at the contest and will represent the Columbia Basin at the state competition in Ellensburg on April 26-27.

Alto Joanna Barajas from Pasco High and mezzo soprano Rebekah Phillips from Chiawana High were named second alternates to the state competition.

Other singers who were recognized for their talent at the Tri-City contest are tenor Franklin Costellanos, alto Payton Fleming, mezzo soprano Bianca Navarette, soprano Carrie Nolan, mezzo soprano Carson Roach, mezzo soprano Alexis Williams, all from Pasco High. Chiawana's mezzo soprano Abigail Bennett also was recognized.
