TRIDEC official named to WSU alumni hall

Gary Petersen, Tri-City Development Council vice president, has been named to the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication's Alumni Hall of Achievement at Washington State University.

He graduated from WSU in 1965 after serving as the editor of The Daily Evergreen.

He's used his nuclear-related management and communication skills at Hanford's Fast Flux Test Reactor, the Washington Public Power Supply System and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where he was director of communications and administration.

Among his assignments was working on the International Nuclear Safety Program through the Department of Energy and State Department, including at Chernobyl, Ukraine, after the nuclear disaster there.

Since retiring from PNNL, he's worked at TRIDEC, helping to secure federal funding for PNNL and Hanford and to develop unneeded Hanford land to create jobs.
